Our Chapter

Built on Brotherhood. Defined by Legacy.

Delta Kappa Epsilon at LSU has been shaping men of character, scholarship, and lifelong friendship for generations. We are proud of where we come from — and excited about where we're going.

Our History

A Legacy That Spans Generations

Delta Kappa Epsilon was founded in 1844 at Yale University, making it one of the oldest fraternities in North America. From its earliest days, DKE has attracted men who combine intellectual curiosity with a genuine love of brotherhood.

The Zeta Zeta chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon (ΔΚΕ) is a historic pillar of fraternity life, originally founded at Centenary College of Louisiana on January 30, 1858. Following a lapse during the Civil War, the chapter was re-established on April 7, 1923, to perpetuate the high ideals of fraternity in honorable service to school and country. Dedicated on October 25, 1930, our distinguished house has been home to generations of Dekes for nearly a century—a legacy made possible by a landmark 1929 lease executed by Governor Huey P. Long. Today, we continue to uphold the enduring traits of a Deke: the gentleman, the scholar, and the jolly good fellow. We are a brotherhood dedicated to building character through camaraderie, curiosity, and courage. Whether through our commitment to academic excellence, our philanthropic efforts, or our active engagement on campus, we strive to foster a supportive environment where young men develop into leaders. As we look to the future, we remain committed to our founding motto, Κηροθεν Φιλοι ἀει—"Friends from the Heart, Forever"—while actively investing in our chapter house and strengthening our bonds with the community and our dedicated alumni network.

Through decades of change, one thing has remained constant: the DKE commitment to being Gentlemen, Scholars, and Jolly Good Fellows — the three pillars that define who we are and how we carry ourselves.
